Why so long?

Seattle Times: "A young man who spent nearly a year in jail awaiting trial in a fatal shooting at the Federal Way Transit Center was set free Thursday because surveillance video shows he was not the shooter, his attorney says."

"His defense lawyer says it took so long to dismiss the charge against Proctor because of delays in getting workable copies of the surveillance video."

I think that you'll be hearing more stories like this one in the near future. I've heard of ADAs out here that won't file a case involving proprietary digital CCTV unless the data has been converted to VHS and it clearly shows the crime and an ID can be clearly made on the suspect. Those ADAs don't want something like this Seattle case to happen to them.
