If you are evaluating noise reduction tools, here is a good site to check out. Michael Almond Photography has well thought out article on comparing noise reduction tools. It's a little outdated, but gives you a good sense of what's out there and what they can do.
In spite of the age of the article, it serves as a good example of how to evaluate one piece of software vs. another.
